Construction of the Casamance Center – Senegal

Building the Casamance Tourist and Cultural Center in southern Senegal was a true adventure.

I arrived from San Sebastián with plans developed in collaboration with an architect, but right from the start, we encountered our first major challenge: the intended site was unavailable. We had to find a new location, redraw almost everything by hand, and complete the entire project in just three and a half months.

The materials we had access to were very limited, and the budget even more so. Furthermore, communication on-site had its own rhythm: they didn't understand my plans, and I struggled to grasp their timelines. In the end, through drawings, improvised models, and a great sense of camaraderie, we managed to pull it off.

Today, I remember it almost as something magical: seeing how an idea that began as just a dream ended up becoming a real place, full of life and people who have been building their own stories there.
